Business Law and Practice
Business law basics are essential to the success of any lawyer, law firm, company, entrepreneur, and in negotiating and drafting the documents for any transaction. The Area of Concentration in Business Law Practice enables students who are interested in business, entrepreneurship and transactional practice to obtain a solid foundation in the core areas of Business Organizations and Business Planning. Students will also get practical experience through internships, pro bono work and practicum courses. There is a scholarly writing requirement that is designed to serve as a writing sample
This area of concentration focuses on lawyering skills critical to effective practice in the areas of negotiation as well as applied reasoning and creative problem solving. There are a wide variety of course electives that students can take, which gives students some flexibility with nearly 30 different course offerings including: Accounting for Lawyers, Antitrust, Business Entity Finance, Copyright Law, Employment Law, In-House Counsel, International Business Transactions, International Finance, Licensing, Mergers and Acquisitions, Non-profit Entities, Sales, Secured Transactions, Taking a Company Public, Telecommunications Law and Trademark Law.
Any faculty teaching in the area of business can serve as an advisor.
