Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Program

Our innovative Juris Doctorate (J.D.) program emphasizes skills-based training and prepares you for a successful and satisfying career in the legal profession.

Specific academic elements of our J.D. Program include:

  • Areas of Concentration
You can enhance your expertise through eight areas of concentration. Students who complete one of these areas of concentration receive formal recognition on their transcript.

  • Clinics and Other Experiential Courses
Experiential courses take you beyond classroom learning and give you real-world experience, teaching you the skills that lawyers actually use in practice.

  • STEPPS Program
This program is required for 2L students and uses a simulated law office environment to prepare you with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for the ethical practice of law.

  • Clinical Internship Program
You can participate in the Clinical Internship Program, where you receive academic credit while working in an actual legal environment.

  • Two-Year and Part-Time Options
The trimester academic calendar allows interested students to study law year-round and complete their legal education in two years. California Western also offers a part-time day program.
