Organizations, groups, and nonprofits occasionally contact California Western with information about scholarships their agencies offer. While this is not an exhaustive list, the following are some of the scholarships currently being offered:

The AccessLex Institute® invites you to utilize their newest tool to find money that’s already available to help pay for law school and lower your student loan burdens. Search over 800 carefully curated and vetted scholarship opportunities and writing competitions, with filters to help you find the ones best suited for you.

THLA Foundation Scholarship Program
The Foundation is accepting applications for its 2024 Scholarship Program. The Foundation determines the number of scholarships and the amount of each, which has ranged from $1,000 to $7,500 in recent years. LGBTQ+ law students and allies are welcome to apply. Law students must be THLA members at the time they submit their application. (Students can become members on THLA’s website or can inquire about membership status by emailing THLA’s Co-Presidents.). The deadline to apply has been extended to Monday, April 29, 2024 (at 11:59PM).

Black Men Lawyers' Association (BMLA) Scholarship Opportunity
BMLA is dedicated to providing scholarships to law students and undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in the legal field. All applicants are welcome! BMLA understands the cost of education can be a burden for many students and wants to help alleviate that burden. Whether you are a current law student or an undergraduate student interested in law, we encourage you to apply. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, a demonstrated interest in BMLA’s core values, and a strong desire to succeed.
To apply for the scholarship, simply fill out the application form below and submit it along with all the required documents to bmla.organization@gmail.com, copying Scholarship Committee Chair, Keith Allen (kallen@evans-dixon.com). The deadline for applications is May 5, 2024. Scholarships will be announced on May 15, 2024. Scholarship recipients must accept scholarship awards by May 22, 2024. Scholarships will be awarded on June 8, 2024, at the Black-Tie Gala and Scholarship Dinner in downtown Chicago.
California Judges Foundation 2024 Adam Z. Rice Memorial Scholarships
The California Judges Foundation (CJF) is now accepting applications for its 2024 Adam Z. Rice Memorial Scholarships. Law students studying at ABA-approved schools in California and California residents studying at any other ABA-approved law schools are encouraged to submit applications before the July 12 deadline. The Adam Z. Rice Memorial Scholarship Fund celebrates the life of a young man who died at age 21. Adam was always trying to help others in need, whether it was the homeless or his classmates. Through need-based scholarships for law students, CJF continues Adam’s legacy while fulfilling the organization’s mission, promote education, and make a lasting impact on future generations devoted to the rule of law and equal access to justice.
Applicants must attend an ABA-approved law school in California or be a California resident attending an ABA-approved law school, and they must also demonstrate financial need. Interested law students must submit a two-minute-long video answering specific questions along with their application. To submit an application, please use the link below.
CJF Adam Z. Rice Memorial Scholarships
Sonoma County Law Student Scholarship Fund
The Sonoma County Law Student Scholarship Fund, a scholarship specifically designed
to support law students who have graduated from high schools in Sonoma County or currently
reside in Sonoma County. This scholarship aims to recognize and assist individuals
with strong ties to the Sonoma County community in pursuing their legal education.
To be eligible, applicants must be a current law student enrolled in an accredited
law school program. They also must have graduated from a high school in Sonoma County
or currently reside in Sonoma County.
The application requirements consist of a completed scholarship application, two essay
questions, unofficial school transcripts, and LSAT Score. The deadline for Application
is June 30th, 2024 with a scholarship amount up to $5,000.
