CWSL Professor Brenda Simon Weighs in on AI and Patent Law
SAN DIEGO (June 6, 2024) – Brenda Simon, ProFlowers Professor of Internet Studies and Professor of Law at California Western School of Law (CWSL), has published an article “Artificial Intelligence and the Self-Represented Inventor” (forthcoming in the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review) describing how AI might address some of the challenges that self-represented inventors often face and when it might raise additional hurdles for them. The article also makes recommendations to the Patent Office to better support self-represented inventors and to mitigate potential bias against such inventors in AI the Patent Office uses.
