CWSL Professors to Speak in Australia
Next week, three California Western professors are going down under to share their vital research with the international legal academic community.
On Thursday, December 7, Professor Emily Behzadi Cárdenas and Professor Nancy Marcus will be speaking at the Law and Society Association of Australia and New Zealand (LSAANZ) 2023 Conference, entitled “Voice, Resistance and Repair: Law and living together.” Professor Behzadi Cárdenas will participate in the panel entitled “Property and Corporate Power” and will present her ongoing research into the applications of progressive copyright theory in service of historically marginalized communities. Professor Nancy Marcus will speak on the panel entitled “Gender, Sexuality, and Jurisprudence” and will present her work, “Deconstructing and Queering ‘Gay and Lesbian’ Rights Beyond Binaries Through a Bi+ Lens.”
On December 14, Professor Erin Sheley and Professor Emily Behzadi Cárdenas will participate in the Law Literature and Humanities Association of Australasia Conference 2023. Professor Sheley will be speaking on “Digital Disruption of and Legal Futures: Data and Flows,” and Professor Behzadi Cárdenas will be on the panel entitled “Decolonial Futures Foundational Fictions and Colonial Fantasies."
