California Western School of Law Students Win First Place in Association of Business Trial Lawyers Mock Trial Competition
California Western School of Law (CWSL) students won first place at the final round of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL) mock trial competition held on November 4th. The ABTL competition is an annual business litigation mock trial competition held between the three San Diego area law schools. The CWSL team advanced though several rounds to take first place. This win is particularly impressive as the team members were all first-time advocates participating in their first competition. The winning team includes Steven Lara 3L, Marie Redoutey 2L, Cruz Salas 2L, and Brenda Sanchez 3L. The team was coached by CWSL alumnae Sara Bloch ‘21 and Summer Shafer ‘20.
Coaches Bloch and Shafer collaborated closely with the advocates who were dedicated, tenacious, and eager to sharpen their skills and be prepared for this competition. The coaches shared that from the very beginning, the students worked incredibly hard to represent the law school. Once again, our CWSL students brought the trophy home.
The team also won the top prize of $2,500 for the Advocacy Program.
The Competitive Advocacy Program (CAP) is a flagship program that trains and prepares CWSL students to be practice ready attorneys. CAP has a winning tradition in San Diego and across the nation. Our competition teams consistently advance, place, and win both regional and national competitions throughout the academic year.
Congratulations on this victory!
