Jacob T. Spaid ’14 Partner at Higgs Fletcher & Mack
California Western School of Law (CWSL) is proud to announce that Jacob T. Spaid ’14 was elevated to partner at Higgs Fletcher & Mack (HFM) on January 1, 2024. Jacob specializes in business and tort litigation, helping clients resolve complex and class action disputes and issues.
HFM’s Managing Partner noted that Jacob has “made tremendous contributions to the firm while delivering outstanding legal services” and that his “promotion to partnership is a well-deserved recognition of [his] dedication to the firm, our clients and our community.”
Jacob has successfully represented clients at all stages of litigation, including the California Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Appeals for the 9th, 2nd, and 5th Circuits. He has been selected to the Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” list each year since 2021 and as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star each year since 2017.
Jacob was previously an Honors Instructor at CWSL, teaching Legal Skills I & II, Constitutional Law I, Torts II, and the International LLM program, and he provided personalized tutoring for small groups of students in need of additional academic assistance. Jacob is a former member of the Leadership Development Committee for the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and a member of the Louis M. Welsh American Inn of Court. He is also a published author, with articles published in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation and in San Diego Lawyer Magazine.
While at California Western, Jacob was a Senior Editor of the California Western Law Review and Editor of California Western International Law Review. He was on the Dean’s List, and received the Diane Ethics Award, the Law Review Outstanding Editor Award, and Academic Achievement Awards in nine of his classes. He graduated magna cum laude and third in his class.
