California Western Community Law Project Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The California Western Community Law Project (CLP) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a reception on Thursday, November 13, 2025. We are grateful for the love and support received for this milestone anniversary.
California Western Professor Linda Morton, one of the clinic’s founders, shared her gratitude and pleasure in the clinic’s success over the decades. She highlighted the program’s vast reach, noting that the clinic has served more than 10,000 clients over its years, and has trained more than 400 students overall (about 30-40 each year).
I am so delighted for the Community Law Project team to be receiving this well-deserved honor. The Community Law Project beautifully demonstrates the ways in which our law clinics serve dual purposes. First, we provide much-needed legal advice and counsel to our community. Second, and just as important, we train our students in practical legal skills, such as counseling, interviewing, and helping community members navigate a maze of rules and regulations. In doing so, we complete our mission of developing compassionate and creative future lawyers.
CLP Executive Director and California Western Clinical Professor Dana Sisitsky shared positive news about this term’s student cohort. “Almost 60% of our current law students speak a second language, allowing us to more efficiently serve a wide range of clients in the community.” This broad array of languages helps support projects like its weekly clinic at Hoover High School in City Heights, one of the city’s most diverse schools.
We congratulate CLP staff, Executive Director and Clinical Professor Dana Sisitsky, Associate Director Ted Janowsky, and Program Administrator Lizeth Cervantes. Thank you for all you do to educate CWSL students and serve the San Diego community.
