SAN DIEGO (April 11, 2025) – California Western School of Law (CWSL) is pleased to welcome Jeannie Posner as its new Chief Financial Officer. A licensed CPA and attorney, Posner brings more than 20 years of financial and operational leadership in the nonprofit and private sectors, with a career rooted in mission-driven organizations.

Most recently, Posner served as Chief Operating and Financial Officer at the San Diego Opera, where she guided the organization through the financial uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and secured multiple layers of government funding. She previously ran her own boutique firm, Posner Accountancy Group, where she specialized in nonprofit audits, 990 filings, and outsourced CFO services. Posner currently serves as President of the Board at Mama’s Kitchen, a San Diego nonprofit that provides free, medically tailored meals to individuals that are homebound and battling serious illnesses, such as HIV, cancer, and type 2 diabetes.

“We are thrilled to have Jeannie join our leadership team,” said President and Dean Sean M. Scott. “Her financial expertise, coupled with her commitment to service, will help us chart a strong and sustainable future for California Western.”

For Posner, the move to California Western was a natural next step. “I really enjoy working with nonprofits, and sitting on both sides of the board room, as volunteer and staff. I am grateful to make a contribution to education, specifically legal education,” she said. “Learning, teaching, and educating are joyful acts—they bring hope into the world.”

Her legal background also plays a key role in how she approaches financial leadership. “I think I’m a great example of someone who went to law school and didn’t follow a traditional path as a practicing attorney but have used my legal education every day in my professional career,” she said. “The degree changed the way I think. It gave me a more strategic, big-picture outlook. I live outside of Excel—I’m always asking, what’s the goal here? And how do we get the most value while staying compliant?”

In her new role, Posner will lead the school’s financial planning, resource management, and long-term strategy. Her priority, she says, is simple: “To bring value to the school—because I believe in what California Western does. This is a law school in a border city that provides opportunity and educates the next generation of attorneys to go out and move the world forward by following the rule of law. I hope am able to help make sure that continues for the next 100 years.”
