Dean Scott Moderates Black Tech Link Panel
San Diego -- California Western School of Law (CWSL) President and Dean Sean Scott moderated Black Tech Link’s 4th annual symposium on the topic, “Where Business, Law, and Tech Intersect.” Co-hosted by the Earl B. Gilliam Foundation, each year the symposium brings together San Diego’s most successful Black attorneys influencing business and technology for networking and knowledge-sharing.
This year’s panelists included Demetria Buncum, Associate General Counsel of Technology at ResMed; Shaka Johnson, SVP, General Counsel at Sony Electronics; Robert Lincoln, Attorney General for the California Department of Justice, and Taneashia Morrell, Senior Licensing Associate at the Salk Institute. The discussion was wide-ranging, delving into data privacy and consumer protection; product liability; biopharmaceutical and medical device innovation and business development; healthcare litigation corporate governance; and business compliance.
Dean Scott’s participation in the panel represents her ongoing commitment to raising awareness about CWSL’s commitment to using the law to solve human and societal problems, particularly at the intersection of law, justice, and technology. CWSL’s Law, Justice, and Technology Initiative (LJTI), launched late last year, entails a comprehensive overhaul of curriculum and resources offered to students, providing premier training both in the law of technology and in the technology of law. The LJTI will also feature annual symposia, further cementing the school’s reputation as a hub for robust conversations about the most pressing matters of the day.
