On October 24, 2025, California Western School of Law’s International Law Journal and Law Review hosted a joint Fall Symposium to highlight six outstanding student articles recently published or forthcoming in each journal. The event provided students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to engage with cutting-edge legal scholarship and hear directly from student authors about their research and writing process.

The journal articles covered a wide range of topics. 3L Ryan Jensen proposed replacing California’s Proposition 13 with a land value tax to address the housing crisis. 3L Terri Baker Ombura compared the United States’ Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program to South Africa’s immigration system. 3L Arman Sadighian examined legal protections for deceased artists in AI-generated music. 3L Erica Scott analyzed negotiation dynamics in international hostage crises. 3L Aidan Winter discussed whistleblower protections for elected officials. Finally, 3L Sarah Yee explored the challenges of space privatization and sovereignty.
