Alfredo Jimenez '25 Named Next Generation Leader by American Constitution Society

SAN DIEGO (April 18, 2025) – California Western School of Law (CWSL) is proud to announce that 3L Alfredo “Freddy” Jimenez has been named a 2025 Next Generation Leader by the American Constitution Society (ACS), a national honor given to a small group of law students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to progressive legal values.
Each year, ACS selects students from nearly 200 chapters across the country through a competitive application process. Next Generation Leaders (NGLs) receive exclusive access to career development resources, mentorship, and networking within the broader ACS community.
“I am excited to continue representing California Western through the ACS Next Generation Leader program,” said Jimenez. “As president of the student chapter, I have been focusing on encouraging my peers to follow in my footsteps and continue to provide the resources and opportunities we came to law school looking for.”
Jeff Chinn, CWSL’s Associate Director of Student Affairs and an Advisory Board member of ACS-San Diego said, “Alfredo embodies ACS and its advocacy on progressive issues—battling to uphold the rule of law under the Constitution and promoting equality for all.”
After attending the 2024 ACS National Convention in Atlanta, Alfredo returned to campus energized. He led the successful revival of CWSL’s ACS chapter—rebuilding membership, organizing events, volunteering at the San Diego chapter’s annual reception, and collaborating with the ACS San Diego Lawyer Chapter.
Jimenez credits ACS with helping him find his voice and build a robust professional network. “Through ACS, I was able to build confidence in myself but, most importantly, meet people nationwide with similar core values and a determination to protect individual rights,” he said. “I am a first-generation son of immigrants who left a career in wholesale planning and logistics to join in the fight for justice. After a lifetime of feeling vulnerable and at odds with ‘the system’, law school and ACS have empowered me to advocate not only for myself but my immigrant family, my trans and queer chosen family, and most importantly, the rule of law.”
In addition to his work with ACS, Jimenez serves as president of Pride Law at CWSL, where he’s developed programming that is both socially engaging and intellectually rigorous. In 2024, he was awarded the Barbara J. Cox & Steven K. Russell ‘97 LGBTQ Scholarship for his leadership—an honor typically given to 3Ls but awarded to Jimenez as a 2L due to the strength of his impact.
Looking ahead, Jimenez sees his work with ACS as essential to building a more inclusive and representative legal system. “I believe that programs like ACS are vital to creating a harmonious and heterogeneous judiciary and legal field where difference is uplifted and celebrated instead of simply tolerated,” he said. “My favorite U.S. President, John F. Kennedy, once said, ‘Americans are free … to disagree with the law but not to disobey it. For in a government of laws and not of men, no man, however prominent or powerful, … is entitled to defy a court of law.’ I would like to remind my peers that we have the power and access to resources to advocate for the changes we want to see in our government and profession.”
