1L Grant Van Gorp Receives Competitive Statewide Justice Pathways Scholarship

California Western School of Law 1L Grant Van Gorp has been awarded a prestigious Justice Pathways Scholarship from the California Lawyers Foundation (CLF), the charitable arm of the California Lawyers Association. Van Gorp is one of just seven law students statewide selected for the scholarship, which recognizes students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement, academic achievement, community involvement, and advancing the future of the legal profession.
“I am feeling incredibly grateful for the honor of receiving this scholarship,” said
Van Gorp. “The California Lawyers Foundation is admirable--caring for and encouraging
the next generation of lawyers to pursue praiseworthy goals of ethical integrity and
just application of law.”
The scholarship is part of CLF's annual statewide awards program, which distributed
$56,500 in scholarships to high school, undergraduate, and law school students across
California. According to the foundation, applicants were evaluated based on their
academic performance, volunteer and work experience, community connections, and essays
describing how their experiences can help shape the rule of law and the legal profession
for future generations. This year, the foundation reported a nearly 80% increase in
applications, making the selection process particularly competitive.
