
California Western Faculty Highlights – April 2025

Faculty at California Western School of Law (CWSL) are continuing to prolifically produce groundbreaking work and present it across the country and around the globe.
Here are some highlights of the faculty’s activities from the month of April:
President and Dean Sean M. Scott
Dean Sean Scott’s transformational leadership at CWSL was celebrated at a reception in her honor—highlighting her many achievements and contributions while serving as President and Dean of the Law School.
Dean Scott was a signatory on “A Call for Constructive Engagement”, a statement released by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U).

Associate Professor of Law Emily Behzadi Cárdenas
Professor Emily Behzadi Cárdenas was a featured speaker for the virtual panel, “Integrating Doctrine & Diversity Speaker Series: Expanding Doctrinal Dialogue with Foreign and International Current Events Content”, an event co-sponsored by Roger Williams University School of Law, City University of New York School of Law, George Washington University Law School, Berkeley Law, JURIST, and Antiracist Development Institute.

Associate Professor of Law Nancy Marcus
Professor Nancy Marcus gave a presentation entitled "ENGLISH LEGAL WRITING TOOLS: From Objective Analysis to Persuasive Brief-Writing" to an international audience of several dozen Ukranian law professors and attorneys on April 30, 2025. In her presentation, she summarized her teaching techniques and the contents of her legal skills lessons regarding legal writing, research, and analysis in the context of both objective advice-giving and persuasive advocacy, tailored toward an international audience of both legal writing teachers and attorneys seeking to familiarize themselves with and/or teach American legal skills.
