Faculty Task Force on Artificial Intelligence
California Western School of Law has established a faculty task force to guide the law school’s response to the rapidly evolving use of artificial intelligence in legal education and practice.
The task force will focus on four interconnected priorities:
1. Preserving the integrity of teaching, learning, and student assessment
2. Ensuring that students develop professional competence in the responsible and effective use of AI
3. Evaluating curricular opportunities in AI law and policy
4. Supporting faculty in navigating the implications of AI for legal scholarship
Across these areas, the task force will consider how the law school can prepare students for a changing legal profession while continuing to cultivate the critical thinking skills, judgment, and creativity required for careers as practicing lawyers. The task force will develop recommendations, resources, and initiatives designed to help California Western adopt an innovative and responsible approach to the challenges and opportunities presented by AI.
The members of the task force are Professor Spencer Williams (Chair), Professor Emily Behzadi (Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development), Professor James Cooper, Professor Amy Day (Associate Dean for Assessment and Teaching), Professor Jessica Fink (Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee), Professor Nikola Hajdin, and Professor Kaimipono Wenger.
